The Problem is Us

“If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make that change.”

Michael Jackson

Global warming, plastic in the ocean, government corruption, religious zealotry, terrorism, human trafficking, cruelty to animals, the opiod crisis, gang violence, domestic violence, racism; it seems as though the list goes on forever. Anyone who wants to make a positive change.in the world can be easily overwhelmed.

Unfortunately all of these problems have one common denominator; us.

We are the problem.

So … What do we do about the problem?

That’s an easy question. The answer is to get rid of everyone who does not agree with us! Right?

I hope you are detecting my sarcasm. Unfortunately many people feel that getting rid of people with different ideas and opinions is actually the answer. So we end up with wars and persecution and intolerance of religions, races, genders, etc. I’ve heard people say that christianity has killed and persecuted more people in the name of good than anything else man has conceived. I disagree.

But instead of beating you over the head with religion let’s talk scientifically.

All matter is composed of packets of energy. Quantum physics has shown us that what appears to you and me as a table is really only a collection of vibrating particles that assemble to make a table. Each of those particles is further broken down into vibrating particles that have specific energies. Everything in the universe is energy. Our bodies consume energy in the form of food and convert it into … us. We, literally, are what we eat. If we eat junk we become junk. If we eat pure, healthy foods then our bodies become pure and healthy.

We consume energy in other ways as well. Thoughts are energy. Thoughts have a vibrational frequency that affect our physical and non-physical well-being. If we consume evil thoughts then we become evil. If we consume pure, healthy thoughts we become pure and healthy. Simple, right?

OK, back to personal opinion and conjecture.

Men kill men. Humans are evil. Everywhere you look there is crime, hatred, persecution, in a word; evil. Evil is a human condition. Evil is welded into our DNA. Evil is glued to us from birth. Our sociologists and psychologists tell us that humans are unstained and perfect at birth and that their environment gradually influences and degrades that perfection.

Wrong. Humans are predisposed to good or evil at birth based on the character of their soul, which comes to us through our parents. The energies present at our conception are what determine the character of the life conceived. If the act of conception is carried out by two people who truly love each other and want to create a life that they can bestow their love upon then those energies are bestowed upon the soul that is destined to be born. If the act of conception is carried out in a rapacious manner or with physical lust and wantonness as the only energies then the child conceived of lust will carry lust forward as part of its inheritance.

So why don’t we just do the right thing?

Humans want to be bad. It feels so good to be bad doesn’t it? Being bad is like eating all the cake, cookies, donuts, candy, pizza, everything you ever desired all of the time. Who wants to eat nothing but salads without dressing, or beets, or … ugggh … tofu?

It feels good to dominate another person by knocking them down a peg when you think they are feeling superior to you. It’s almost irresistible to take something you want from another person if you know there isn’t anything they can do about it and you won’t have to answer for it. It makes us feel more powerful and confident when we steal energy from something else. Kids at school are experts at this. They are playing the video game of life, taking energy stones from each other.

But it isn’t good for us or for the people around us.

Good is boring. Good is for losers. “Nice guys finish last,” as the saying goes, right? What possible reason is there to do the right thing for others? Why should we care about anyone except ourselves? If it feels good “do it.” Succumb to all your desires and passions and evil thoughts. After all, “God is dead,” according to Nietsche. There isn’t any great Dad in the sky watching everything you do and taking notes for the day you die so that he can confront you with your shortcomings and spank your butt by putting you in hell. Who says what’s right and what is wrong. You and I get to pick what is acceptable and what isn’t, don’t we?

All souls have choices to make. All souls have the opportunity for change. We make our futures and our destinies by choices. Small choices have big effects. Every choice, every decision, no matter how small it may seem is a step toward good or away from it. One lie becomes two. One truth becomes another. Each choice takes us either closer or farther from good. Small moves become huge changes. Integrity in minor concerns becomes fortitude in larger struggles.

Some of us begin life with a soul that is more onesided than others. We are both good and evil. We possess potentials’, the potential for limitless good or limitless evil. Our own choices as well as the choices made by our parents, their parents before them, the community and the nation in which we live, all surround us with their energies. They push that potential toward good or toward evil. We have the capacity for both, we are light and shadow contained in one soul. We have the ability to choose good over evil but it starts with small choices. It starts with integrity in the little things that grow into the big things. Planting good seeds will grow good fruit. The only way to change the world is by providing it with good fruit, good energy, through which it can grow. Good fruit can only come from good trees and you and I must be those trees.

How do you change the world?

By changing yourself. Michael Jackson knew what he was talking about when he was looking at the man in the mirror.

But more than just good for goodness sake, there is a bigger reason to choose good.

Good grows, nurtures, loves, envelopes, sustains, empowers, blossoms, flowers, feeds, nourishes … evil destroys, diminishes, crushes, kills, starves, hates, persecutes, lies, obstructs … Good will triumph because its nature is to create and flourish. Evil will die because its nature is to destroy and, given enough time, will destroy itself.

Each of us, individually, must find our own reasons to be good and to resist evil. You are responsible for you. Don’t worry about changing the world. Change yourself. When you point your finger at someone else there are four more fingers pointing back at you!

But don’t take my word for it.

I’m just a dumigod.

I love you guys.
